Davtashen is located on a northwestern plateau above the Hrazdan Gorge. The district is separated from parts of the city by the river's deep terrain and connected to neighbouring areas by Davtashen Bridge.
Planned apartment districts, new residential complexes and areas of private housing form the main urban fabric. Davtashen Bridge, the central neighbourhoods and the open slopes towards the Hrazdan are its principal landmarks.
Air pollution in Davtashen most often increases from November through March, as it does across Yerevan. The plateau's open position usually helps dispersion, although readings can worsen during calm winter periods and near busy roads.
Davtashen is higher than central Yerevan and is generally a little cooler and windier. Summers remain hot and dry, while snow and cold weather can persist longer than in the lower southern districts.
