Air Quality Map of Dilijan

Dilijan lies in a mountain valley in Tavush Province and is surrounded by the forests of Dilijan National Park. The city stretches along the Aghstev River and its tributaries, so the valley's shape and direction strongly influence air movement.

Dilijan is known for the historic buildings of Sharambeyan Street, its forest neighbourhoods and its role as a resort and tourism centre. Low-rise residential areas, hotels and private houses predominate, while traffic, heating and seasonal visitor numbers are the main local pressures.

In Dilijan, elevated pollution occurs more often from late autumn to early spring. Stable cold air can remain in the valley for longer, while in the warmer months stronger air mixing and vegetation generally help maintain a lower background level.

Dilijan is cooler and more humid than the Ararat Plain, with moderately warm summers, snowy winters and more frequent precipitation. Forested slopes soften summer heat, but the enclosed mountain valley can limit ventilation on calm days.
