Sensor.Community

Sensor.Community is an international platform for community air monitoring. It brings together sensors installed by individuals, civic groups, and local projects, and publishes their data openly.

In Armenia, Sensor.Community may include different devices. Some of them are related to local initiatives, including ArmAQI, but the data source is broader: it is not limited to ArmAQI sensors or to one local network.

A common setup uses the Nova Fitness SDS011 particle sensor and a BOSCH BME280 weather sensor. These devices are inexpensive and useful for community monitoring, but their PM2.5 measurements need calibration and are better suited for tracking trends than for precise laboratory-grade measurement.

PM2.5 pollution data from Sensor.Community sensors is calibrated against data from Yerevan Municipality sensors. For SDS011, we use the same calibration logic as for other sources with this sensor type.
