Nork-Marash lies on the hills east of central Yerevan between Kentron and Nor Nork. Its uneven terrain creates noticeable elevation changes and views over the central city.
This is predominantly a low-rise residential district with extensive private housing, gardens and medical institutions. The television tower on Nork Hill is a major landmark, while apartment and commercial development is less dense than in Kentron.
Elevated pollution in Nork-Marash is more common from November through March during calm weather and intensive household heating. Slopes and more open development can improve ventilation, so readings may differ considerably between nearby neighbourhoods.
Nork-Marash is higher than central Yerevan and is usually slightly cooler, especially at night. Summers are dry and sunny, winters are cold, and winds are more noticeable on exposed slopes.
