Planned apartment neighbourhoods, broad avenues, public centres and areas of private housing form the district. Green spaces and approaches to Yerevan Zoo lie in its lower section, while new development continues around the outskirts.
The most persistent pollution in Nor Nork occurs from November through March. Its high and open position often improves ventilation, although a city-wide winter inversion can allow pollution to accumulate across Yerevan at the same time.
Nor Nork is one of the capital's cooler districts, with stronger winds, more persistent winter snow and cooler summer evenings. Elevation and proximity to the open plateau can make its precipitation and temperature differ from lower areas.
